Diabetes is a disease that affects every part of the body, including the eyes. Diabetic retinopathy is a leading cause of blindness in the Unites States. Often there are no symptoms in the early stages of diabetic retinopathy. Come and hear Dr. Tracy Schauer talk about diabetes and the effects on the eye. Learn what you can do to help prevent this sight threatening complication of diabetes.
Dr. Schauer is an optometrist at Uptown Eye Care in Monticello. She practices comprehensive optometry, including the diagnosis and treatment of eye disease such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, dry eyes and diabetic eye disease. You can also find her at the annual CentraCare Diabetes Health Fair in November and other community events throughout the year.
